Before you download

  • The desktop app needs a Pro or Advanced account. Trial and Free accounts can't sign in to it — the web app is always available to everyone.
  • This build runs on Apple Silicon Macs only. If your Mac has an Intel processor, it won't run — use Confidesk in your browser instead.
  • Not sure? Click the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says Apple M1 (or M2, M3, M4), you're on Apple Silicon.

Installing

Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Confidesk to your Applications folder.

What the desktop app adds

  • Search your mail — full text, across everything stored on your device. This can't exist in the browser: the index would have to be written to disk, leaving a decrypted copy of your mailbox behind on the machine.
  • Works offline — read and write with no connection; it syncs when you're back.
  • Your other mailboxes — connect any IMAP or POP account alongside your Confidesk mail.
  • Auto-lock — locks itself after a period of inactivity and clears your key from memory.

Windows and Linux builds are on the way. The app checks for updates itself, so once you're installed you'll be told when a new version is out.
